OFF THE COUCH
I named this company Off The Couch because I’ve seen how real change happens, not sitting still, but through action. Some of the most profound healing in my own life, and in the lives of those I’ve coached, has happened outside, on trails, in the ocean, in moments of movement and challenge. The couch has become a symbol of being stuck: in addiction, in depression, in anxiety, or in the paralysis of “failure to launch.” Families watch their kids sink deeper into that cycle, desperate to help but unsure how to break it. Off The Couch is our answer. It means getting into solution, choosing action over avoidance, and creating momentum where there was once stagnation. Our philosophy is simple: step outside, step into movement, and step toward a life worth living. This isn’t just about fitness or adventure—it’s about proving to young people and families that change is possible when you get off the couch and into life.

HI I'm Trey
I founded Off The Couch because I’ve lived the struggle myself. For years, I was caught in addiction, battling my mental health, and stuck in patterns that left me feeling hopeless. I know what it’s like to be the young person who can’t get out of his own way, and to feel like change is impossible.
My turning point came when I was pushed out of my comfort zone and into the wilderness. It was there, through hard lessons and uncomfortable growth, that I began to understand accountability, structure, and the value of leaning into challenge instead of running from it. That experience changed my life, and it planted the seed for what would later become Off The Couch.
After my own recovery, I went on to work in some of the top treatment and coaching programs in both Utah and Los Angeles. I ran a group home in Utah, supported young people through transitional living, and worked alongside clinicians, therapists, and families across multiple settings. Along the way, I saw what worked, and I also saw what didn’t. I learned that real change happens when structure, accountability, and compassion come together, and when both the client and the family are supported in tandem.
I built Off The Couch to reflect those lessons. This isn’t just another coaching program. It’s a model that blends lived experience with professional training: we create structure, provide accountability, and walk alongside both the client and the family. We use movement, adventure, and real-life challenges as tools for growth, because I believe momentum is built off the couch, not sitting still.
What makes OTC different is that I’ve walked the walk, both personally and professionally. I’ve lived through the struggle, and I’ve worked on the inside of programs across the spectrum.
Off The Couch is the culmination of it all. The best of what I know, creates real lasting change.

At Off The Couch, we believe transformation happens when families are supported, young people are held accountable, and everyone has the right tools in place. We’re here to make that transformation real.
